Sugar beet plates are sized to your seed’s diameter and require a dedicated sugar beet bottom with its metal floor plate, metal filler ring and sprocket setup. If you do not have a sugar beet bottom, most growers use one of our single-drop sorghum plates with the required plastic filler ring on a standard corn bottom. See Seed Sizing Guide: Sugar Beets.

There are so many plates available. How do I know which one I need?
Check your seed bag for a plate size recommendation first. If there isn’t one, see our full Seed Sizing Guide for how to measure your seed against a plate, or send us 10–20 seeds and we’ll email a recommendation the same day we receive them. See how to send a seed sample.
What’s the difference between John Deere and International plates?
John Deere plates (part numbers starting with B) are 6-15/16" overall diameter and fit the John Deere 71 and similar JD gravity-fed plate planters, the Yetter 71 Series, and Allis Chalmers planters with our AC-Adaptor. International plates (part numbers starting with C) are 7-5/8" overall diameter and fit the IHC 56 and similar IHC gravity-fed planters, as well as 1968-and-later Case planters.
Many plates come in 16 or 24 cell versions. Which do I need?
A 16-cell plate plants about 1/3 less seed than a 24-cell plate. 24-cell is the more common choice. Spacing also depends on your planter’s sprocket settings, so check your Operator’s Manual.
Do I need a filler ring with every plate?
Not with every plate, but Sunflower and Sorghum single-drop plates are thinner than a standard corn plate and need a specific filler ring to fit tight in the planter bottom. Filler ring thickness is matched to a specific plate, so the wrong one will throw off your seed drop even with the correct plate installed.
How much do plates cost, and how much is shipping?
All plates, filler rings and adaptors are $85.00 each. Orders of 25 or more plates get a 10% discount and ship free via UPS Ground. Standard UPS Ground is $25 per order; see shipping options. Orders received by 12:00pm MST ship the same day.
